Lugano
...its beautiful. Lugano's main attractions were traditionally considered to be its very mild climate, the wonderful scenic view across the lake and the green sub tropical luxuriance which enfolds it all. Today's visitor however has higher expectations and Lugano caters for these new demands with a degree of excellence and flair in all fields.
Over the past 20 years Lugano has become one of Switzerland major international financial, convention and cultural centers. Lugano's cultural reputation derives from important exhibitions held at the Villa Malpensata, the Cantonal Art Museum and various other museums in the area. Annual events such as the Lugano Estival Jazz focus international interest on our Mediterranean-Italian atmosphere and culture.

Flying to Lugano?
Because of frequent strike danger in Italy and heavy summer traffic between Milano and Lugano (border, toll-bars, etc.) we suggest that you fly to Lugano Airport which is connected by SWISS
with all the major European airports (check-in time only 20min !!!).
The LUGANO-AGNO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is 10 min from the hotels and the venues of Lugano and 20 min from Mendrisio (Highway).
Ticino
Ticino is the only canton (state) in Switzerland entirely south of the Alps. It is also the sole canton in which the only official language is Italian.
Ticino is a Latin land: its history, culture, language and dialects are integrally part of those of the neighboring Italian regions.
The climate is mild and the landscape, particularly around the lake regions, is characteristically Mediterranean. Ticinois a land of natural contrasts: with very high mountains, glaciers and typically valleys, while along the lake shores the vegetation is subtropical and gentle, sloping hills covered with cypresses, olive trees and vines give a Tuscan feeling to the landscape.
